since mankind has opened its eyes and had a first look at the world there were pictures. while impressions are ubiquitous, things have been different with pictures.
to look doesn't
mean to see - even more so as we are neither being trained to use our eyes
properly nor to capture their capacity. what we see when we look at something
should always come up as a picture, and it does. but because we are not trained
in the art of seeing, we don't grasp a picture as is defined by the basic
definitions, colour scheme, centre of interest, fore- and background, the
